Thank you for your interest in supporting me in running my first marathon and the mission of Tedy's Team! I am running in honor of my mom who had a stroke in December of 2020. Although, she suffers from some deficits including aphasia and physical barriers, the progress she has made has been remarkable based on the prognosis we originally received. We are truly so fortunate to have her with us today.

What drew me to Tedy’s Team is their dedication to stroke education and warning signs. My mom had a severe headache leading up to her stroke. She had an ER visit and CT scan but no-one could determine the cause of the pain. 90% of individuals who suffer from the type of stroke she had, have a headache as a symptom. It is so important to understand all warning signs of a stroke including the not so obvious ones and to advocate for yourself until you receive an answer. I appreciate any support you have to give in helping me run my first marathon but also to help Tedy’s Team to continue the amazing work they are doing!

The mission of Tedy's Team is to raise awareness for stroke and heart disease while supporting survivors on their journey, giving them a means for a comeback!

Tedy's Team was originally founded in 2005, when Tedy Bruschi, former linebacker for the New England Patriots suffered a stroke shortly after winning his 3rd Super Bowl and just days after returning from his first Pro Bowl. to learn more about who we are, please see our website, www.tedysteam.org.

New York Road Runners has allowed us to utilize their platform to elevate the awareness of the warning signs of stroke, which are best remembered by using the acronym BE FAST, which stands for:

• Eyesight Changes
• Face Drooping
• Arm Weakness
