Tara's Fundraising Page for the 2023 TCS NYC Marathon

Hello!
I am so excited to be running the 2023 TCS NYC Marathon with Tedy's Team in honor of Prad Sabharwal, my father, who passed away this past November suddenly from a heart attack, almost seven years to the day of having a massive stroke in 2015.
In 2015, my dad had two somewhat routine kidney stone surgeries in which all was normal and went well. On November 13th, 2015, he woke up with no feeling on his left side. He was somehow able to call my mom, who rushed home and calld 911. He was sent to Barnes Jewish Hospital and given an emergency TPA which ultimately saved his life and set him up for a miraculous recovery. In the weeks following, he was moved from the ICU to TRISL for rehabilitation, where doctors continued to marvel at his recovery. Around the holidays that year, he was discharged with both his physical and cognitive functions mostly completey normal, despite the severity of his stroke. In the months following, Barnes Jewish invited him to several conferences and events to speak about his recovery, and serve as a case study for both the first responders and neurologists who worked with him.
Despite his miraculous recovery, he was never quite the same and my mom and I always considered the seven years we had with him following the stroke to be borrowed time. In the fall of 2022, he had a few minor health issues including a ruptured appendix that sent him to the hospital but he was cleared almost immediately and set home. On November 2nd, he had a sudden but massive heart attack, and this time we were not as lucky.
My dad was the most generous, kind-hearted, and funniest person I've ever known. He had friends across the world and from every phase of life he's had, and in the months following his passing, I've had the pleasure of connecting with so many that I did not know well prior. We miss him terribly, but in his loss, there is no better way to memorialize him and his legacy then to run in his honor with an organization who's aim is to raise awareness for the signs and recovery of both stroke and heart attacks.
