Welcome to Mikio's Fundraising Page

Dear friends,
The 125th Boston Marathon is just 3 days away. I would like to express to all of you my deepest gratitude for supporting my fundraising for Tedy's Team. I could raise more than $9000.00 as of September 30th, way above my primary target, by hearty donations by almost 80 people and pairs. I never expected when I began this fundraising. It's simply amazing.
Recently I kept on tapering my running distance, took massages to ease the tension on legs and calves, and refrained from drinking :-) So I feel quite good and relaxed. I will fly to Boston tomorrow and join in the event hosted by Tedy's Team where I finally will be able to meet my teammates running Boston Marathon. I look forward to seeing new friends who share our goal.
The Boston Marathon will be held on Monday October 11th. I suppose to start at between 10:12-10:36 AM EST (23:12-23:36 Japan Standard Time). You will be able to track my real-time position at the marathon race by this link: https://rtrt.me/ulink/BAAA/BOSTON-2021/tracker/R5JTB37E/focus
While my target has been already hit, I would highly appreciate your additional supports, of course even in small amounts, if you would cheer me. You can do that by this fundraising page below, or through my page at givengain (http://tedys.convio.net/goto/Mikio) If there is an issue for payment.
Again, I am really thankful to you for giving me a chance to run Boston for good causes of supporting those suffered heart stroke, preventing further serious cases with heart diseases, and funding researches related to heart diseases. I will update this page once I finished Boston Marathon. See you sooooooon!

Hello everyone,
We have just less than 3 weeks before Boston Marathon on October 11th. As my final race-like preparation before it, I ran "DC Half Marathon" on Sunday September 19th.
It was the second in-person marathon event in DC since the outbreak of pandemic. It was really amazing to run through the East Potomac Park, Tidal Basin and Rock Creek Park, getting huge cheers in the morning under very dry and comfortable weather.
At Boston, I am aiming at keeping pace with 5min30sec per 1K, which will lead me to finish Boston in 3hour 50minutes. I actually kept this pace through the first half and ran a bit faster in the second half. I finished the half marathon in 1 hour 53 minutes 48 seconds (8min40sec per 1M). It seems to me very good with regard to steady pace and marking "negative split(i.e. to run faster in the 2nd half than the 1st) ".
Now I am getting in "tapering" period under which I ran fewer miles and less intensity than before in order to avoid injury.
I deeply appreciate all of donations you made for me. I am happy to tell that the total donation amount has already hit my primary target. I did hardly believe that it would really happen!
The deadline for my fundraising will come on September 30th. I will raise my target to $8500.00 in order that I would welcome more assistance. Please tell your friends about my fundraising if you are interested.
Thank you indeed for your support and cheering!

Hi Friends,
Boston Marathon is exact one month away today. I deeply appreciate every donations you kindly made with which I have reached over 84% of my target for charity. I am thankful to you if you could tell your friends and partners about my fundraising and ask for consideration to donate for the activity of the Tedy's Team. The deadline will come at the end of September, so I will keep on asking any assistance from you and your friends.
As I uploaded a picture, I had an opportunity to run through the Central Park in NYC with Tara-san in the pretty morning on September 2nd when I went to my business trip. I well remember great memories about NYC marathon I ran in 3 consecutive years in 2017-19. It was really nice training to clime up/down the hills in the park.
I ran then the "Arlington Loop"(16.2miles/26kms) from/to Theodor Roosevelt Island in the beautiful early Friday morning on September 10th with some of my running mates. It was definitely effective practice to enhance my endurance for long-distance runs.
I'll do my best preparation for the forthcoming Boston Marathon with my high caution not to suffer any injury. I am going to run in DC for a half-marathon at the "DC Half Marathon" on September 19th.
Keep in touch! Thanks for your cheering.

Hello everyone,
My preparation for the Boston Marathon is well under way. Early morning on Saturday August 28, I ran 17 miles (27 kilometers) on the hilly road in Rock Creek park for practice with my running mates. It was a really humid day so that hydration was a huge challenge, but I managed to run through the course, especially the down hill which the running coach of Tedy's Team pointed out as the key for running Boston.
I ran 304 kilometer in August. I will try to get more speed in the course of weeks.
I really appreciate all of fellow donors who cheered me. Donation's total amount surpassed over 50% of my target for Boston. I will do the best to receive further donations for one more month. Thanks!

Hi everyone!
My name is Mikio Sugeno. I live in Washington DC and work as a journalist for a Japanese media company. I will run the Boston Marathon on October 11th 2021 for charity as a member of the Tedy's Team which is working hard to raise awareness about stroke and heart disease.
The team was founded by Tedy Bruschi, a former NFL pro football linebacker for the New England Patriots who suffered a stroke just after he won his 3rd Super Bowl title. He decided to establish the Team after suffering his second case of heart stroke.
I would be most appreciative if you could join my fundraising effort to support survivors who have suffered unpredictable heart disease or stroke while they are on their journey to recover. Your kind contributions will also help our campaign to let people know how to take precautions against stroke and heart attack by showing people several typical symptoms.
I joined the Tedy’s Team because I support such good activity to prevent heart disease which is ranked one of the highest causes of death in the United States, and the rest of the world as well.
I ran the London Marathon in 2013 (for charity too) which took place just six days after the tragic bombing incident at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. After I prayed for all the victims there, I felt a strong desire to run for charity with support from my sincere friends and those who were ready to help the important work of the Royal National Institute for Blind people (RNIB). It was one of my greatest memories of my lifetime to run for a charitable organization that supports so many good people.
I am super excited to become a member of the Tedy's Team, and I am so happy to run the Boston Marathon for the first time with your kind support. I am looking forward to completing my very final challenge of competing in all the World’s Marathon Majors (Boston, New York, Chicago, Berlin, London and Tokyo) which will make my longtime dream come true!
The deadline of my fundraising effort will be the end of September. I would be very grateful to you if you could support my fundraising effort with any dollar/yen/euro/pound contribution for such a good and meaningful cause. You can do that by clicking the "Donate Now" link on this page with your credit card, or by Venmo, Zelle, check, bank transfer to my account (I will let you know them individually) or even cash. All your contributions will be put into a special fundraising account with my sincere thanks. I will definitely share my huge joy with all of you after running the most famous and prestigious marathon on the globe!
Thank you very much, Arigato, and Danke schön. Yoroshiku Onegai Shimasu!
Sincerely,
Mikio

The mission of Tedy's Team is to raise awareness for stroke and heart disease while supporting survivors on their journey, giving them a means for a comeback!
Tedy's Team was originally founded in 2005, when Tedy Bruschi, former linebacker for the New England Patriots suffered a stroke shortly after winning his 3rd Super Bowl and just days after returning from his first Pro Bowl.
Tedy's Team participates in the Boston Marathon, Falmouth Road Race, and this year's travel event is Duke City Race Weekend in New Mexico!
We are honored to be part of the Offical Charity Program of the Boston Marathon and the Numbers for NonProfits Program at the New Balance Falmouth Road Race for 15 years. The Boston Athletic Association and the NBFRR have allowed us to utilize their platforms to elevate the awarenss of the warning signs of stroke, which are best remembered by using the acronym BE FAST, which stands for:
- Balance Difficulties
- Eyesight Changes
- Face Drooping
- Arm Weakness
- Speech Difficulties - and if you notice any of those warning signs, it's...
- TIME TO CALL 9-1-1.
