Natalie & Christy's Fundraising Page!

Thank you for taking the time to read about our New York City Marathon fundraising efforts!
We are so excited to embark on this journey of fundraising, training, and running the NYC marathon together for a cause so near and dear to our hearts
Natalie's Story
As many of you know, my dad passed away of a heart attack in 2018 while he was in the middle of training for the Boston Marathon. I joined Tedy's Team shortly after to run Boston in his memory. I'm humbled to have finished Boston this past April. Throughout my time with Tedy's Team, my reason to run has grown to be so much bigger, and I am beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to run another marathon for my dad and the many others affected by stroke / heart disease, but this time with my cousin by my side.
Christy's Story
The passing of Natalie's dad, my Uncle Jeff, shocked and changed my perception of health and fitness. The unexpected heart attack of a Boston Qualified marathon runner seemed unimaginable to me. Since 2018, I've watched Natalie grow from a casual runner to a marathon finisher, and in the past two years, I have begun sharing her love of running. What better way to remember and celebrate Uncle Jeff than running NYC together.
My Uncle Jeff's passing is not the only story of heart disease or stroke in my family. Seven years ago, my Uncle Joe suffered a stroke while home alone in his apartment. He was found hours later and rushed to the hospital. Due to the time between his stroke and the time he got to the hospital, today he still lives with the effects of his stroke - he suffers from paralysis on his right side and has lost most of his speech. Unfortunately, my Unle Joe's story is not uncommon, and so many people live with the side effects of stroke every day. I'm honored to be able to run the New York City Marathon for both of my unlces and those impacted by stroke / heart disease while raising money for Tedy's Team.
The Mission of Tedy's Team is to raise awareness for stroke and heart disease while supporting survivors on their journey, giving them a means for a comeback!
Tedy's Team was originally founded in 2005, when Tedy Bruschi, former linebacker for the New England Patriots suffered a stroke shortly after winning his 3rd Super Bowl and just days after returning from his first Pro Bowl.
We are honored to be part of the Official Charity Program of the TCS NYC Marathon. New York Rod Runners has allowed us to utilize their platform to elevate the awareness of the warning signs of stroke, which are best remembered by using the acronym BE FAST, which stands for:
- Balance Difficulties
- Eyesight Changes
- Face Drooping
- Arm Weakness
- Speech Difficulties - and if you notice any of those warning signs, it's...
- TIME TO CALL 9-1-1.
