I’m thrilled to be running the 2023 NYC Marathon in support of Tedy’s Team!
I joined Tedy’s Team as a stroke survivor in 2017. At just 35 years old, two weeks after the birth of my second daughter, I spent Valentine’s Day recovering from an unexplained stroke at Beth Israel. This unexpected event catapulted me into an emotional roller coaster that was hard for most to comprehend.
I started running as a way to gain back control of my body. Every mile I survived gave me confidence to run again. I discovered Tedy's Team when searching for other stroker survivor runners like me and I was inspired by their mission to raise awareness of stroke and heart disease and support survivors on their comeback.
In 2018, inspired by Tedy Bruschi and all the Tedy’s Team runners, I trained for and completed my very first marathon – The Boston Marathon. It was my comeback! Not only did I complete the ultimate athletic challenge post stroke, but I also raised critical funds to help others like me on their post stroke journey.
In 2019, my husband David also joined Tedy’s Team and ran his first and second Boston Marathon’s in 2020 and 2021! Both his mother and father were impacted by stroke as well as several close family friends. He ran in their honor and passionately shared all our stories as he raised thousands of dollars in support of Tedy’s Team.
Now it’s my turn to run and continue to spread awareness of the symptoms of stroke as well as to raise critical funds to help prevent stroke and to improve the quality of life for stroke survivors.
Every donation counts and is greatly appreciated!
