Karen's Boston Marathon Fundraising
When my father took 3 strokes in 2016 I wanted to find a way to give back and raise awareness. I applied for the 2018 Boston Marathon with Tedy's Team and found the platform to support stroke awareness and so much more. Tedy's Team has become a second family to me. There is comfort in finding a group of people dedicated to the same mission and who also understand what you have been through. We all have different stories that start the same way...'My (mother, father, grandparent, sister, brother, child, uncle, aunt, friend, or sometime I) had a stroke'. We share our stories and in return raise awareness. By my posts on social media I have had people tell me because of your posts I knew someone was having a stroke and I was able to help. As sad as I am to hear these stories I take comfort in knowing that I am accomplishing my goal of raising awareness.
On November 1, 2020 I will be running my 1st New York City Marathon with Tedy's Team. I am so proud to be a member of this team. My motto is My first and last step are for my dad but every step in between has a meaning too!! I run for my teammates, my friends and family who have or are stroke survivors. They will be my drive and my WHY during this Marathon .
