Welcome to My Personal Page
I thought long and hard about what I wanted to write this year, when seeking continued support as a returning member of Tedy’s Team. In years past, I wrote about my Dad, and how running to honor him would mean so much to me, and to him; and how there is still a lack of awareness around the signs or stroke and how to help survivors. I could easily repeat those words and mean them just as much today, because there is still so much work to be done. But, now, after sharing the experience of Tedy’s Team with him, and my mother now also being a stroke survivor, in addition to a passion for the cause, I also have a perspective I didn’t have years ago, one I never could’ve predicted.
I started on this journey because I wanted to give my time and energy to this cause in the hopes of raising both awareness and money to help others. What I never expected, is what was given to me by this team. And, more importantly what this team has given my parents. I had no idea of the friendships we would make, the feeling of family we would receive, or of the community of survivors that would give my Dad & Mom a sense of normalcy and understanding. To add to that, this team gave them a platform where they could reach out and inspire others who are fighting their way back from stroke. But without question, the most amazing thing this team gave them, is the belief in themselves, inspired by fellow team member stroke heroes.
The simple truth is, I could run a million marathons and raise million dollars, and it still wouldn’t repay what this team, and this family, has already given to my family. Thank you for supporting me and this team so we can continue to do for other stroke survivors, like my Dad & Mom! <3 Bridget
The mission of Tedy's Team is to raise awareness for stroke and heart disease while supporting survivors on their journey, giving them a means for a comeback!
Tedy's Team was originally founded in 2005, when Tedy Bruschi, former linebacker for the New England Patriots suffered a stroke shortly after winning his 3rd Super Bowl and just days after returning from his first Pro Bowl.
Tedy's Team participates in the Boston Marathon, Falmouth Road Race, and this year's travel event is Duke City Race Weekend in New Mexico!
We are honored to be part of the Offical Charity Program of the Boston Marathon and the Numbers for NonProfits Program at the New Balance Falmouth Road Race for 15 years. The Boston Athletic Association and the NBFRR have allowed us to utilize their platforms to elevate the awarenss of the warning signs of stroke, which are best remembered by using the acronym BE FAST, which stands for:
- Balance Difficulties
- Eyesight Changes
- Face Drooping
- Arm Weakness
- Speech Difficulties - and if you notice any of those warning signs, it's...
- TIME TO CALL 9-1-1.
